Parent infant psychotherapy
Helping parents better understand and meet the emotional needs of their little ones
Being a parent can be overwhelming at times. Parent infant psychotherapy helps parents to better understand and meet the emotional needs of their babies, and of themselves by observation, conversation and play. Parents are invited to talk about their feelings: their hopes and fears, and to untangle their expectations and reality. Babies are observed: their tiny gestures and communications are watched and we try to make sense of their experience of the world. Parents can take the time to focus on their child to learn more about how their baby tries to communicate their feelings, and new ways to respond to help their child feel understood. By playing together parents and babies, or young children can find new ways to develop attuned, empathic relationships and strengthen emotional attachment.
